Episode #144 - Cruising Back In Time: The Queen Mary and Port Disney Sea Long Beach Project

Welcome to episode #144!

How in the world did The Walt Disney Company come into possession of the famous cruise liner, the Queen Mary, Howard Hughes Spruce Goose airplane and over 200 acres of surrounding land at the port of Long Beach, California? Did you know that for many years they operated the Queen Mary and had plans to build a theme park, hotels, restaurants, a marina, a cruise ship terminal and even a monorail and more?

Well, we are going to "cruise back in time" with Disney historian and author, Jim Korkis to tell us this fascinating and detailed story.  This was a monumental and amazing project that Disney wanted to construct. It would have been the most incredible Disney project ever and Jim has all the unbelievable information and why it was ultimately abandoned.

Jim is author of over 30 books and has worked for The Walt Disney Company in many different and interesting capacities. If you are interested in Disney history and what goes on behind the scenes, Jim definitely always has a wonderful story to share.

You can find Jim's books on Amazon.com
You can also find his books at ThemeParkPress.com
Jim also writes a column for MousePlanet.com too!

Enjoy the show!

Episode #78 - Seattle 2016: Pre-Cruise Experiences and Excursions!

Welcome to episode #78!

We just can't stop talking about Seattle! We love this town and all the neat places and things to see and do here. On this new show, we share with you all the things that we experienced while we were in this fun and amazing town and it's surrounding cities.

Like we always say, before you start your cruise, plan to spend a day or two in your embarkation town to explore and enjoy the unique experiences, museums, tours, hiking, restaurants or whatever interests you. We have found that most, if not all points of embarkation have an abundance of enjoyable things for the adventurous cruise traveler.

Also, we would like to introduce to you an author and friend of our show, Paul J. Hale. He has written his first crime fiction novel, Oscar Mike. From the first paragraphed, you are drawn into the twisted and disturb world of Oscar Mike, where the L.A.P.D. and F.B.I. are finding their hands full of dead, mutilated bodies and few clues, with little evidence of who might be behind this savagery. The writing unfolds and reveals the story with a steady pace that keeps the reader interested and in focus of the drama at hand. It is a storyteller's masterpiece, an impressive and lively read. If you are looking for a new book to read on your next cruise (or anytime!) get this book - we promise that you will have a great time reading it!

Happy Cruising!
